Pablo Andreu Leads KSOP GGPoker Iguazú Main Event After Double Starting Day

The KSOP GGPoker Iguazú Main Event kicked off with a double dose of starting flights on Friday, drawing significant player interest. Day 1A saw 107 entries for the R$ 4,000 buy-in, with Argentine Pablo Andreu emerging as the clear chip leader, amassing an impressive 519,500 chips. This strong performance secured him over 200 big blinds heading into the next stage of the tournament.

Andreu's nearest competitor was Daniel Noronha, the current two-time circuit ranking champion, who bagged 405,000 chips. Thiago Torati, an ambassador for KSOP GGPoker, also advanced with a healthy stack of 301,000 chips.

Other notable players who successfully navigated Day 1A included Alan Karas (235,000), Wender Oliveira (190,000), Eder Ferronato (158,000), Marcos Grassi (157,000), Cauê Martins (133,500), Renan Revinthis (120,000), and Rodrigo Guimarães (90,500).

Turbo Flight Sees New Leader

The evening's turbo flight, Day 1B, attracted 44 entries, with Edgard Moreau finishing at the top of the chip counts with 275,000 chips. Despite the smaller field, Moreau secured the largest stack among the qualifiers from this flight.

The tournament continued on Saturday with two more starting flights. As of the end of the initial days, the Main Event had accumulated a total of 151 entries. Day 1A of the Experience tournament registered 84 entries, with 16 players advancing to the final day. Daniel Noronha, the reigning KSOP ranking champion, led this flight with a substantial 658,000 chips.

Among the other qualifiers from this flight were Miguel Jesus (557,000), Adriano Spessatto (354,000), Ali Cader (180,000), Marcos Martins (141,000), and Thaline Noronha (98,000).

Day 1B of the Experience tournament saw 112 entries and advanced 20 players. Luciano Coloeira from Argentina took the chip lead with 551,000 chips. The final day for the Experience tournament was scheduled for Saturday, starting at 3:00 PM, with blinds at 4,000/8,000 and a big blind ante. This tournament saw 196 total entries, with payouts beginning at 31st place. The champion was set to receive R$ 20,000 and a trophy.

Other Titles Awarded

Friday at KSOP GGPoker Iguazú also saw champions crowned in other events. Adir Bottin claimed the title in the Seniors +48 tournament, which had a buy-in of R$ 1,500 and 25 entries. Bottin received R$ 12,500 and the champion's trophy. Notable players who made the final four included Gaston Gurevich, Pedro Kollet, and Francisco Belaustegui.

Mariano Jimenez secured his first KSOP title by winning the Progressive KO tournament. With a buy-in of R$ 2,500, Jimenez took home R$ 98,350, a significant portion of which came from bounties collected. Jimenez, who frequently plays online and specializes in PKO formats, expressed his satisfaction with the victory, having previously achieved multiple final tables in the series.
