German professional Tobias Schwecht has finally clinched his first Triton Poker Super High Roller Series (SHRS) title, taking home $465,000 after winning the $30,000 No-Limit Hold’em/Pot-Limit Omaha mix event. The victory came on May 25 at the Maestral Resort and Casino near Budva, Montenegro, marking a significant achievement after 15 previous cashes on the prestigious circuit.

Schwecht’s win in the 53-entry field, which included many of the world's top poker talents, culminated a long journey of consistent performances without a top prize. The 2026 Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Montenegro festival ran from May 13 to May 28, featuring 18 events with buy-ins ranging from $25,000 to $200,000.

A New Triton Champion

The 33-year-old Vienna-based professional has been a regular on the Triton circuit since 2023. Despite reaching multiple final tables during this period, a victory remained elusive until this event. Schwecht arrived in Montenegro having already secured 15 cashes in Triton tournaments, highlighting his consistent ability to perform at the highest level.

The $30,000 NLH/PLO Mix event format, which alternates between No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha hands, demands versatility and skill in both disciplines. Schwecht noted that he had been focusing more on PLO tournaments in the past year, a strategic adjustment that appeared to pay off.

Key Moments in the Tournament

A pivotal hand occurred on Day 1 when Schwecht, holding pocket aces in the big blind, faced a six-bet shove from Tom Vogelsang, who had pocket queens. Schwecht made the call, and the board ran clean, eliminating Vogelsang on the bubble and significantly boosting Schwecht's stack to 200 big blinds. This hand set the stage for his dominant run.

Schwecht carried this substantial chip lead into the final table of seven, starting with 4,105,000 chips, equivalent to 205 big blinds. His closest competitor, Cong Pham, began with 120 big blinds, while Isaac Haxton, the short stack, had just 13.

The final table saw strong competition, including Anatoly Zlotnikov, who had already won Event #2 of the festival for $715,000. Zlotnikov mounted a significant challenge, even taking the chip lead at one point after spiking a two-outer against Schwecht’s pocket eights. Zlotnikov proceeded to eliminate Watson in fourth place and Pham in third, entering heads-up play with a commanding 79-to-54 big blind advantage.

However, Schwecht regained the chip lead early in the heads-up duel and maintained control. The final hand of the tournament saw both players make a flush on a Pot-Limit Omaha board. Schwecht held the higher flush, securing the victory and denying Zlotnikov a second title of the series. Zlotnikov finished as the runner-up, earning $334,000.

Reflecting on his win, Schwecht expressed his relief and satisfaction. "I feel like I was close to a trophy a few times," he stated, as quoted in the official Triton Poker report. "Even making a final table here is really tough. So when I came here with a big stack, I had a lot of pressure there to bring it home."

The significance of this win for Schwecht cannot be overstated. Competing in Triton events means facing the best players globally, and consistently reaching the money across such fields is a testament to his skill. His strategic focus on PLO in the year leading up to this event proved crucial, especially with the final hand being decided in a PLO pot.
