Priscilla Pizzoni Wins First-Ever P2W Palmas Title at Welcome Tournament

The new P2W Palmas poker club in Tocantins, Brazil, opened its doors with a successful Welcome tournament, crowning Priscilla Pizzoni as its first champion. The event, part of the Circuito Tocantinense de Poker, attracted 98 entries and ran for over 12 hours.

Pizzoni, a familiar name in the local poker scene, secured the top prize of R$ 4,700 and the inaugural trophy. She learned poker at a young age and adopted a cautious strategy during the final table, waiting for smaller stacks to be eliminated before making her move.

“I expected to play here today, with the intention of going far, but not of winning,” Pizzoni said after the victory. “So for me, it was perfect.”

The nine-player final table also included Leonardo Luiz Barros Morais (second place, R$ 3,400), Andre Petrocione Jardim (third, R$ 2,400), Marcos Aurelio Marques de Amorim (fourth, R$ 1,600), Kharlos Danyell Fonseca e Oliveira (fifth, R$ 1,300), Marco Tulio Casemiro (sixth, R$ 1,000), Rogerio Rodrigues Pereira (seventh, R$ 800), Flaviany Pereira de Souza (eighth, R$ 700), and Luiz Henrique Rodrigues Macedo (ninth, R$ 600).

Pizzoni noted that a key turning point came when the field narrowed to three players. “Suddenly we were three-handed, and then I had hope for the title. After three-handed, anyone can be champion, I thought,” she said.

New club, new circuit

The P2W Palmas club is a new venue in the city, built to offer a premium poker experience. Pedro Londe, the club manager with experience from the KSOP circuit and events in Tocantins and Distrito Federal, described the opening as a major achievement for the region.

“The structure of P2W is very large. Players, when they arrive at the club, don’t imagine it has two floors. Everyone liked it, everyone was happy, and Palmas needed this,” Londe said. “Today we have many players in the city, but we never had a place that offered this structure and security.”

The opening also marked the launch of the Campeonato Tocantinense de Poker, a season-long circuit that will serve as a qualifier for the state team that will compete in the Campeonato Brasileiro por Equipes (CBPE). The Main Event of the series has R$ 200,000 guaranteed, with additional side events throughout the schedule.

While the tournament is a live Texas Hold’em event rather than video poker, it demonstrates how poker communities are expanding with new venues and structured circuits. Pizzoni, already qualified for the Main Event, said she plans to continue playing in the series. “Tomorrow I’ll come back to play. I already have my seat for the Main Event and I really want to enjoy every moment of this stage,” she said.
